Under the Canopy: Urban Trees

From street trees to parks, urban areas host a wide diversity of tree species and organisms that use them. Third through 12th grade educators will learn to identify common urban trees and assess their health. Investigate how these urban forests can be used as conservation tools and create a functioning ecosystem in our backyards. Discover some of the research the Chicago Botanic Garden is doing with urban green spaces while discussing threats to urban trees and the animals that use them and the ecosystem services urban plants provide.
