This fast-paced workshop equips educators with a practical overview of Illinois’ major habitats, including prairies, woodlands, wetlands, and river systems. Participants will explore defining characteristics, key plant and animal species, and the ecological relationships that shape each environment. The session also provides ready-to-use classroom connections aligned with Illinois’ learning standards, along with hands-on activities and local examples educators can immediately incorporate into lessons or field experiences. Ideal for teachers looking to strengthen environmental literacy and bring place-based learning into their curriculum. Supplemental classroom materials and resources will be provided.
