October 16, 2027
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Tiny bumps on a leaf, giant balls hanging from a branch- what are they, and how did they get there? Discover what galls are and where we find them. Some of the most cryptic insects are those that make or use galls. Learn about trees, galls, gall makers, and investigate how a diversity of tree species support all manner of gall-making insects. This workshop is geared for middle and high school teachers but can be adapted to other grade levels. Supplemental classroom materials and resources will be provided. Professional Development Hours are available. Sponsored by the IDNR, this workshop is part of the ENTICE (Environment and Nature Training Institute for Conservation Education) program.
